WOVEN CD PROJECT
Arts Council Nelson initiated this community arts project with the aim of creating hundreds of individually
woven CD’s to be installed together to create a wonderful large public artwork by and for the community. The collective large installation would be gifted to and sited within the newly built Greenmeadows Community Centre in Stoke.
Arts Council Nelson put out a public call for anyone to join in and be part of this great community arts project! ACN collected donated CD’s and materials to run workshops and gift to community members to help them engage in the initiative.
The response was huge and resulted in nearly 300 woven CD’s being created and donated to the cause.
Contributors ranged in age from 4 to 84 and we thank you all. We also thank Heidi Lucas for her amazing coordination efforts toward making this a reality.
An initial small installation was sited in time for the grand opening event (see left), and we are waiting for a picture rail to be placed in the main concourse to enable the installation of a larger artwork.
Images of the final install will be posted in here in due course.
