Blind Ukulele Workshops
The Blind Foundation and Arts Council Nelson are very excited to offer an introduction to Ukulele. “Blind Uke” is a 6- week block workshops, for members to have a go, or dust off your ukulele skills, and join in a regular group. You will be in good hands with tutors Jan and Jane from the Nelson “Plinkers” Ukulele Group. When: Monday’s, 4 – 5pm (commencing August 27th – October 4th)
Where: Nelson Elma Turner Public Library, Halifax St, Nelson
What to expect: Find out how a ukulele makes a sound, how to hold, strum and make chords – it’s amazing how many song can be played with just a few chords. Fun. Cost: $20 per person, for the 6 classes.
The library has 10 soprano sized ukuleles available to use for each class, however, these cannot leave the library for practice. If you can borrow one to practice on, bring them along and Jan can give them a health check and tune up. These smaller traditional size ukuleles are the ones best suited for these workshops.
Funding to support “Blind Uke” is acknowledged to Nelson Creative Communities Scheme.
To register please contact Erin Eyles, [email protected] or leave a message on 03 375 4318.
