APPLICATIONS TO THE  NEXT FUNDING ROUND FOR THE
NELSON CITY CREATIVE COMMUNITIES LOCAL ARTS FUNDING SCHEME
CLOSE ON 11th JULY 2025.


Please be advised that the Nelson City Scheme has now changed permanently to offer three funding rounds per annum, with closing dates on 11th of March, 11th July and 11th November each year.

Arts Council Nelson administers the Nelson City Creative Communities Scheme on behalf of Creative New Zealand and Nelson City Council. Grants contribute toward arts based projects that clearly demonstrate community benefits. Please refer to guidelines below and do not hesitate to contact us if we can help with any enquiries you may have.

CREATIVE COMMUNITIES—NELSON CITY SCHEME
  • For projects that take place within the Nelson City Council wards only. If your project takes place in Tasman please apply to the Tasman Scheme here
  • For project assistance up to approximately $1200 per allocation, although worthy projects requiring greater assistance will be considered.
  • Funding decisions are usually confirmed within five weeks from closing date
The Creative Communities Nelson City Scheme Administrator Lloyd Harwood may be contacted via this site should any potential applicants require any assistance in project preparations, applications or have other enquiries.

CCS GUIDELINES

Funding Criteria To be successful, applications for support under the CCS must show that the proposed project meets one or more of these three funding criteria-


  1. Broad Community Involvement - the project will create opportunities for local communities to engage with and participate in arts activties.
  2. Diversity - The project will support the diverse arts and cultural traditions of local communities, enriching and promoting their uniqueness and cultural diversity.
  3. Young People - The project will enable and encourage young people (under 18) to engage with and actively participate in the arts.

GENERAL
Grants are assisted with support from Creative New Zealand, Nelson City Council and Arts Council Nelson.   
Assistance is in the form of Grants only. Groups or individuals may apply. 
Assistance from the appropriate Funding Scheme must be acknowledged in advertising, publicity material & other relevant documents. The Nelson City logo may be downloaded above.
ACN & CNZ may also ask for material to be supplied for promotional display purposes.
