Entry Process :
There is a two-step entry process which enables us to waiver artists entry fees.
Step 1: On-line.
All entrants must complete the digital online form available on the Pushing Clay page and upload a high-resolution digital image or images of their entry for administration purposes. Please be aware that this image will be used for the finalist catalogue if selected.
Step 2: Hard copy
All entrants must create hard copies of their entry form and images and forward these to Arts Council Nelson by the closing date Friday 23rd August. Hard copy photographs of work will be utilised for the selection process; therefore, it is important that artists names are on the reverse of the image and work is shown in its best light.
Selection Process:
There is also a two-step selection process
Step 1: Entries will be judged on merit by the three pre-selection judges. Artist names will not be visible to the pre-selection judges. The selected entries will be advised by the 30th August 2024 when artists will be invited to send the work to us.
Step 2: Selected works are delivered to the venue for final judging by the 16th September. Artists are advised by the 19th September in the event their work is not to be included in the final showcase.
Finalist award judging will be by the judging panel. All decisions will be final and dialogue will not be entered into.
Selected works
A list of artists and the titles of their selected works will be posted on the Pushing Clay site and the Nelson Clay Week site (prior to opening).
Finalists
The awards will be presented at the opening event and award presentation, Friday 28th September 2024, all entrants are welcome to attend and we especially encourage all finalists to be present.
Winner Forsyth Barr Award
The winning entry will be on display at Forsyth Barr Nelson office for up to 6 weeks following the finalists exhibition.
Pushing Clay Finalists Exhibition will be on display at Refinery ArtSpace as part of Nelson Clay Week from 28th September - 19th October 2024.
