THE  NEXT NELSON CITY CREATIVE COMMUNITIES        FUNDING ROUND
CLOSES at 5pm on 1st SEPTEMBER 2022
​For projects commencing after 1st October 2022.

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THERE ARE TWO FUNDING ROUNDS PER YEAR WITH CLOSING DATES     IN EARLY SEPTEMBER AND APRIL EACH YEAR.

Arts Council Nelson administers the Nelson City Creative Communities Scheme on behalf of Creative New Zealand and Nelson City Council. Grants contribute toward arts based projects that clearly demonstrate community benefits. Please refer to guidelines below and do not hesitate to contact us if we can help with any inquiries you may have.

CREATIVE COMMUNITIES—NELSON CITY SCHEME
  • For projects that take place within the Nelson City Council wards only
  • For project assistance up to a usual maximum of approximately $1200 per allocation, although worthy projects requiring greater assistance will be considered: refer to allocated grants in grants recipients list in the right panel ->   
  • Funding decisions are usually confirmed within six weeks from closing date
The Creative Communities Nelson City Scheme Administrator Lloyd Harwood may be contacted via this site should any potential applicants require any assistance in project preparations, applications or have other enquiries.

CCS GUIDELINES

Funding Criteria To be successful, applications for support under the CCS must show that the proposed project meets one or more of these three funding criteria-


  1. Broad Community Involvement - the project will create opportunities for local communities to engage with and participate in arts activties.
  2. Diversity - The project will support the diverse arts and cultural traditions of local communities, enriching and promoting their uniqueness and cultural diversity.
  3. Young People - The project will enable and encourage young people (under 18) to engage with and actively participate in the arts.

GENERAL
Grants are assisted with support from Creative New Zealand, Nelson City Council and Arts Council Nelson.   
Assistance is in the form of Grants only. Groups or individuals may apply. 
Assistance from the appropriate Funding Scheme must be acknowledged in advertising, publicity material & other relevant documents. The Nelson City logo may be downloaded above.
ACN & CNZ may also ask for material to be supplied for promotional display purposes.

The 2020/2021 Nelson City Creative Communities Scheme received applications for assistance to the level of  $86,721.98.  Thanks to an additional $10,000 one-off covid recovery allocation from CNZ, the Nelson Scheme was able to allocate $56,789.00 to assist projects over the period.
