Motueka Library: Art Workshop - Composition and Mondrian Monday 7th August 2017 - The second of three art workshops to inspire your creativity. Come along to Motueka Library and learn some new art skills or rejuvenate your arty side with Marian Painter. Workshop 2 - Composition and Mondrian.
Mondrian was the father of abstract art. He was an extremely accomplished artist but was always searching for a new way to express art in its most simple form. We will explore how his art developed and what inspired him. We will then look at the basic rules of composition and see how he applied them. It will then be time to have a go at creating your own Mondrian masterpiece!

Richmond Library: Family History Month - Caring for Your PhotosSaturday 19th August 2017 - Learn how to look after your photographs, postcards and photo albums. Darryl Gallagher, manager of the photographic collection at Nelson Provincial Museum will give a free talk with handy tips on how to care for your own photographs. Darryl will be talking about how to look after your photographs, postcards and photo albums and the best way to store them for future generations. You are also welcome to bring in your own photos for some personal one-on-one tips about their care. This event is limited to 20 people and bookings are essential. Plein Air Painting Excursions with Catherine Kent
Catherine will take you to the hot spots of the beautiful Nelson/Tasman region of the South Island New Zealand. All art materials will be supplied if required to create a lasting memory from your day trip. All abilities are welcome. Transit can be arranged to sites. Afternoon or morning sessions available. Richmond Library: Good Crafternoon! Join us at Richmond Library for an hour and a half of crafting. It’s a great opportunity to finish a project, or start a new one, and spend some enjoyable time with other crafters. Bring along your craft project – knitting, hand sewing, mending, crochet, drawing, scrap-booking, or whatever half-finished, almost-started project you like – and work on it with other crafters at the library. SUDHIR DUPPATI’S MIXED MEDIA WORKSHOP: Layers (Marlborough)
19-20 August 2017 10am-4pm Fees: $180 per student.
Sudhir is an experienced artist and teacher, and he will be sharing his own personally developed art making techniques in this exciting workshop. Using an image of a person or an object of your choice, you will learn a figurative approach to an abstract process with stencilling, printmaking, painting and drawing. This workshop will suit all levels of experience, and will give you an opportunity to unleash your creative ideas and learn new techniques. All materials are included in this workshop including paint and paper, just bring an A4 image of your choice, and your lunch, tea and coffee will be provided. SUDHIR DUPPATI’S FIGURATIVE WORKSHOP (Marlborough)
16-17 September 2017 10am-4pm Fees: $180 per student. In this workshop artist and teacher Sudhir Duppati will be teaching life drawing or drawing of the human figure from observation of a live model. This is a great opportunity for artists at all levels of experience to learn Sudhir’s techniques and approaches to life drawing using paper cut outs and other media. All materials are included in this workshop including coloured papers, pastels, charcoal and pencils. Just bring along any ephemera such as paper from magazines which you may want to use in your art making. Tea and coffee are provided but bring your own lunch.
