Uke' Can Do it - Learn How To Play Ukulele in 1 Day
Sunday 8th July 2018 - Learn to play the ukulele in a one day workshop with Paula Ann - singer/songwriter and kindergarten kaiako from Mangaweka, central North Island. Art Group Nelson Textile Workshop with Jill Richards26 July 2018, 9.30am - 3.30pm
Ready for an inspiring day of creativity & experimentation? Join Jill's Exploring Background Techniques class - You will be exploring rust dyeing, resist and discharge techniques and mono/gelli plate printing. AsJill is an artist that primarily uses textiles, this is the focus for some of these techniques but others translate to paper. She will show you examples of how she has used these techniques and hopefully inspire you to try to apply what you have learnt in some way into your own artistic journey.
Location: NP Community Hall, 175 Quarantine Road, Stoke/Nelson
Price: $25 for members, $30 for non-members. This includes $5 material fee.
Materials: Solutions, some fabric, a collection of rusty bits, gelli plates, and the plastic for mono printing will be provided. Please bring:
- Artist acrylic paints, brushes and something to mix colours on.
- Any fabric pieces you can change the look of, cotton, calico, plain coloured or patterned as long as the pattern isn’t too bold. (Plain light colours for rust dyeing).
- Any stamps and stencils you may have. Don’t buy any if you don’t have - Jill has heaps. Alternatively you can use lace, leaves, string...anything to make a pattern with.
- Flat surface such as a chopping board, piece of Perspex, oven tray etc.
