My Fancy Car - Children’s Public Mural Project - Call for entries…..

We are asking  children up to 12 years of age to create an image of what their ‘Dream Car’ would look like and send them to us to be considered for inclusion in an exciting new public mural for Nelson.

Images can be emailed to lloyd@acn.org.nz

or dropped into the Refinery ArtSpace, on Hardy St, by  Monday 9th February.

From images received, we shall select several to be carefully reproduced and included in the mural by a professional artist. Please see full terms and conditions below.

Have a fun filled creative summer and we look forward to seeing the results.

Eligibility; This project is open to all artists under the age of twelve years who live in the Nelson region and have parental/guardian consent to participate. Artists may submit up to three images.

Artwork Criteria:   Images must align with the theme of the project and be the sole original work of eligible artists.

Receiving Artworks:      All images must be received no later than Monday 9th February 2026

Images, artists name, age  and parents statement of consent may be emailed to lloyd@acn.org.nz.

Alternatively, hard copy images in any media and of any size up to an A3 (297 mm x 420 mm) may be dropped into the Refinery ArtSpace, at 114, Hardy Street , Nelson during  opening hours by 9/2/2026.

Process:     All artworks received by the closing date will be considered for use in the mural, however depending on the amount received, and despite our wish to include as many artists as possible, we are highly unlikely to be able to include all artists in the final mural design. In this instance, organisers shall form a selection panel to choose multiple images that will make a cohesive mural design. The selected images will be transcribed in paint as closely as possible onto the mural by a professional artist, although we reserve the right to add a colour fill to any line drawings received. All selected artists will be notified of their inclusion and later invited to a launch of the finished mural which we hope will be completed before Easter and attract local media coverage. We also intend to organise an online display of all images received on our website.

Conditions:

In submitting works to this event, artists do so in their understanding and consent of the above and the following:

1.       Hard copy images must have the artists name, age and contact details on the reverse of the artwork and shall remain with the organisers until completion of the selection process on 24th February 2026,  after which time original artworks may be collected from the Refinery ArtSpace.

2.        All due care and diligence will be taken by organisers during the process; however, the organisers cannot be held responsible for any damage or loss incurred. All hard copy artworks submitted are done so at the artist’s own risk.

3.       Images selected for inclusion in the final mural will include the artist’s names in the final design and/or related signage. Selectors choices are full and final.

4.       In contributing a child’s artwork to the project, the parent/guardian imparts permission for the artworks to possibly be publicly posted and/or reproduced for promotional usage for this and future projects. In this instance the artist’s name may or may not be acknowledged. Please note that organisers reserve full editorial control over imagery and/or information used solely for promotional purposes. Artists will otherwise retain full copyright of their work.
