Step towards each other!

This Mental Health Awareness Week, join us in connecting with your community through art. We are inviting people to decorate shoes to remind us of the importance of stepping towards each other to strengthen our health and wellbeing.

Our colourful shoes will be displayed around the region, and come together in a big art installation at Nelson Catherdral church steps.

How to get involved:

  • Donate old shoes for decorating

  • Join a free, friendly and fun shoe decorating workshop

  • Decorate your own shoes with friends and whānau, and drop them off to be included in the installation

  • Volunteer to help on our public installation day, 11th October at the Nelson Cathedral church steps

  • Share info on social media and help us promote the event

Where to donate shoes:

You can drop decorated or undecorated shoes off at the following locations before 10th October 2025.

  • Refinery Artspace, 114 Hardy St
