Marketing and Communications - Contract role
Arts Council Nelson is an independent arts development agency dedicated to initiating, promoting, and strengthening the artistic and cultural life of Whakatū Nelson. They have a vision for a vibrant, inclusive, sustainable, and profitable arts sector in Te Tauihu and now have an amazing new Marketing and Communications contract role to support them shape the vision and spread the word.
About the role
Reporting to the Arts Council Nelson Community Arts Manager, you’ll take responsibility for the marketing and communications of Arts Council Nelson (ACN) activities, including developing and implementing a communications plan for the organisation in a time of transition as well as to raise awareness of the Whakatū Nelson creative sector overall.
This is a broad and varied role offering plenty of scope and opportunity for collaboration. You’ll work closely with the ACN team to develop clear and consistent messaging that can be delivered through a variety of platforms, including e-news, social media and the ACN website.
Responsible for internal and external communications, you will also be a key point of contact for a range of community stakeholders, local and national artists and media outlets. You’ll use your strong networking and relationship building skills to ensure that the profile and messaging of ACN activities and events are inclusive, timely, consistent and clear.
This is a contract role working for15 hours per week for a fixed term period of 8 months, 1 October 2024 to 31 May 2025.
About you
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring a relevant qualification and / or proven experience in a marketing and communications role. With an appreciation of the kaupapa of ACN’s events programme and a genuine enthusiasm for Whakatū Nelson’s creative sector, you will have excellent communication skills, proven experience managing stakeholder relationships, and a deep understanding of developing and delivering effective communication strategies.
With exceptional organisational skills, you’ll enjoy managing projects from conception through to completion, but you’ll also be adaptable enough to change direction and reprioritise when required. You will have an ability to see the big picture, a high level of energy and most of all, the motivation and dedication to make a difference.
