Feel, listen, think. Three key words that describe well these offerings and what it means to be human. Left to right: May it be Jane Tan with 'Every Thread I ever...' [feel], or John Cohen-Du Four with 'Sonic Tarot' [listen] or Maggy Johnston 'Our Place Our Time' [think]. We welcome Georgie Merry in our Foyer Gallery with her work 'Submerging Artist'.
A wonderful collection of Limited Edition prints and other trinkets. Georgie Merry is currently completing her studies at the Learning Connection in Wellington. In the artist's words... 'Making things allows me to put things out into the world gently. I feel less pressure communicating through visual art. I am slowly learning to navigate sadness & frustration in our social and political existence & in the world or close by. Accepting that life and being valuable, is not about happiness, or being loved by/ loving everyone I meet. This multi-media collection of works are conversations with myself and reflections of what I see. A commentary on identity, politics, and life in a world where we are constantly reminded that the end is nigh. This collection is inspired by the internet, magazines, commedia dell'arte and political newspaper cartoons.' It feels like an archeological adventure - uncovering stories from the past, now being retold. We are looking forward to welcome Billy Apple in the near future. Please keep updated with our 2019/20 programme starting July - we hope it will be feast, with varied topics, media - a little for everyone. www.acn.org.nz/the-refinery-artspace.html
