The work of the Arts Council Nelson has the following functional Objectives:
1. Arts Funding
To facilitate and administer funding for projects which
increase access & participation in the arts for the benefit the communities across Te Tau Ihu O
Te Waka-A-Maui.
2. Arts advisory and advocacy services
To provide advice, information,
support and assistance to all arts inquiries.
3. Arts Promotion
To promote awareness of and participation in arts events
and activities through a range of media.
4. Arts education
To promote & nurture arts education and training
opportunities.
5. Retail
To produce arts product that promote and support local
art/artists and generates a revenue stream for the Arts Council.
6. Gallery 203
To provide and administer a gallery space that affords
accessible exhibiting opportunities for local visual artists.
7. Community Arts
To foster increased participation in community-based
arts activities, through broadening the range and diversity of arts available in Te Tau Ihu O Te
Waka-A-Maui.
